Position Overview: The Sales Contract Benefit Specialist will
support the new and renewing business needs which include but are
not limited to review and consultation on competitor medical plan
benefits, documents, forms, benefit customizations. This position
will assist the sales team throughout the RFP process to assess and
determine deviations to PS product standards. Essential
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the sales subject matter expert for interpreting
competitor plan benefits in contrast with the PacificSource product
standards.
- Serve as the sales subject matter expert to assist, audit,
review the Benefit Detail Forms for fully insured and self-funded
plans. Communicate with internal operational departments to ensure
accurate distribution and communication of detail form information
across operational teams.
- Liaise with other departments to establish and maintain
consistent language and operation requirements and support in
relation to the organization's sales, materials management,
production, and overall operating functions.
- Work to identify potential competitor benefit customization
alternatives.
- Identify issues and advance recommendations for process
improvements regarding Benefit Detail Form creation and accuracy
for fully insured and self-funded products sold or represented by
PacificSource.
- Coordinate with the RFP team and sales to review client core
materials and identify benefit deviations from PacificSource's
standard benefit offerings.
- Work with Administrative Services department and Plan Document
Specialists to interface with sales in resolving plan document
discrepancies related to the Benefit Details forms.
- Attend internal and external meetings as required. Supporting
Responsibilities:
- Meet department and company performance and attendance
expectations.
- Follow the PacificSource privacy policy and HIPAA laws and
regulations concerning confidentiality and security of protected
health information.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned. SUCCESS
PROFILE Work Experience: Minimum of five years of technical
background experience in the health insurance industry specific.
Must have a thorough understanding of commercial services and
products, administrative procedures, documents requirements and
compliance within the health insurance industry. Education,
Certificates, Licenses: Bachelor's degree or demonstrated
equivalent work experience required. Knowledge: A thorough
understanding of insurance products, contracts, administrative
procedures, and the health insurance industry's legal and mandatory
guidelines preferred. Strong working knowledge of state and federal
laws affecting business lines. Ability to remain current on
PacificSource procedures and products, healthcare, and the health
insurance industry. Must possess excellent communication skills,
particularly in writing and must be able to communicate and work
effectively with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
Ability to work under pressure and meet all deadlines. Ability to
handle complex regulatory language to describe processes,
functions, and requirements under state, federal and PacificSource
guidelines. Must possess strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel,
and PowerPoint. Ability to pay attention consistently and
effectively to detail, produce high quality work in a timely
manner, and strive to increase production without sacrificing
quality. Ability to handle sensitive issues with diplomacy and
persuasiveness. Must possess strong analytical, planning,

setting with ergonomically configured equipment. Travel is required
