Position OverviewWe are seeking a professional like you to join our team. In this role, you will prioritize and coordinate the packaging and bulk shipping activities in the Logistics/Shipping department and directly supervise the bulk operators, warehouse team leads, and contingent operators. You will be responsible to ensure that procedures are followed, operations are conducted safely, and that packaging and bulk shipments are executed timely, efficiently, and with good quality.Your commitment to safety culture will be essential to stopping unsafe work practices and coaching operators against taking risks. Your knowledge of process areas, Automated Process Controls (DCS) and proficiency in SAP will be key to ensuring that proper operations and shipping procedures are followed.Utilizing your ability to prioritize and be self-motivated, you will be responsible for adhering to our packaging and shipping schedule which includes direct interaction and feedback with other departments, coordination, and managing package inventory levels in partnership with supply chain.In this role you will use your knowledge of safe operating procedures, you will ensure basic training for contingent operators prior to release to shift work and coach lower experienced personnel around key safe behaviors.Your process knowledge will serve you well as you interact with process areas on an equipment level as pertains to packaging activitiesYour attention to detail will be utilized to support packaging and bulk quality non-conformances and incident investigationsCountryUSA FunctionLogistics Company OverviewBased in Columbus, Ohio, Hexion Inc. is the global leader in thermoset resins. When you work for Hexion, you are partnering with a company that is not only focused on delivering value but on doing it in a safe, ethical and environmentally responsible manner.Company DistinctionThis exciting opportunity is part of Hexion Inc.Job Responsibilities* Manages overdue PO's, ensures tank storage inventory accuracy, product quality, shipment scheduling and issuance of shipping tasks.* Determines material requirements from production schedules, deliveries and storage availability; communicates issues with Supply Chain and Production.* Ensures security and accountability of inventory using various system including the ERP system.* Sets up systems to verify accuracy of material count, location and information.* Manages daily priorities to meet customer schedules.* Tracks OTIF, cost and accuracy for responsible areas.* Available for off-hours response to plant, delivery and customer issues.* Liaison with carriers at the local level to resolve daily issues and provide support for chronic carrier problems.* Track, report, minimize and approve all non-optimal freight movements and additional charges for the sites inbound and outbound shipments.OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Works cross functionally across manufacturing teams to improve overall processes, methods and systems. Will have close collaboration with operating areas and supervisors and backfill for supervisors as needed.* Manages and develops employee's skills to improve area operations.* Ensures that workplaces are held to corporate and 5S standards.* Safety* Ensure that all DOT and Safety Manual requirements are followed, incident management and emergency communications are completed, and Carriers are trained in Hexion Site Safety customer locations as required.Environmental Protection:* Ensure compliance with environmental regulations with respect to the delivery of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.* Report defects and/or coordinate repairs as required.* Ensure environmental incidents are communicated to the appropriate leadership contacts and team members.Quality:* Investigate shipment quality problems and customer concerns.* Determine root cause of product delivery, and process non-conformances.* Use structured problem-solving techniques, analytical tools and teamwork to improve quality and unit performance.* Implement and track corrective actions taken.Minimum Qualifications* Bachelor's degree strongly preferred but will consider High School Diploma or GED with relevant experience.* Requires a minimum of 6 years of related plant / manufacturing experience including distribution, transportation, supply chain.* In-depth knowledge of applicable regulations for shipping and handling hazardous materials: DOT, RCRA, OSHA, IATA, etc.* Strong leadership skills related to materials and logistics operation with a minimum of 6 years of Inventory management experience* Supervisory experience - Demonstrated experience in managing/leading/motivating people, preferably in a high-performance, team-oriented environment.Preferred Qualifications* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.* Strong coaching, planning, and organizing skills. Flexibility for working hours due to leading a team on multiple shifts.* Highly proficient computer skills to include Microsoft office suite and experience with ERP systems. SAP experience is strongly preferred.* Lean manufacturing / Six Sigma knowledge and experience* Willingness to be hands on and highly visible/accessible to the production associates.OtherWe are an Equal Opportunity, Affirmative Action employer.
