Job Title: Vascular TechnologistDepartment: Vascular LabReports to: Vascular Lab SupervisorSupervises: No oneEmployment: 0.8 FTE, 32 hours/week with a flex day off Job Summary:Performs duplex exams and generate reports for Vascular Lab including but not limited to: Arterial Duplex exams, Visceral Duplex exams, Cerebrovascular Duplex exams, Venous Duplex exams as ordered by Northwest Surgical Specialist, LLC, providers. Primary Responsibilities:Perform exams to appropriate diagnostic standardReview data from prior exam and obtain pertinent patient historyObtain necessary images per lab protocol and acquire additional information based on findingsBe able to recognize when additional views/exams may be necessaryCompile acquired images and generate a preliminary comprehensive report for ordering and reading physicians' useComprehend and employ appropriate medical terminology, terms, and phrasesFollow lab templates to ensure consistency of reports throughout labGenerate report/findings and deliver to clinic side in a timely mannerInteract with providers to deliver results and coordinate careCreate chart encounter/start billing process in electronic medical recordDemonstrate proficiency in selecting appropriate CPT and ICD 10 codesEnsure that exams are billed the day that they are performed for quick and accurate billingProtect patient privacy, observe HIPAA rules and regulations when accessing patient informationMaintain lab cleanliness before and after patient exams Follow office policies on safety and security; maintains restricted areas by safeguarding keyless entry codes and computer system passwords with strict confidentialityMaintain confidentiality of patient information and recordsMaintain effective communication with all departments of officeOther tasks as assigned to ensure proper functioning of the lab.

Education: High School Diploma, completion of at minimum Associates Degree in Vascular Technology Program (Bachelor's Degree preferred)Education/Certification/Licensing Requirements: National registry certification such as ARDMS in Vascular Technology; State of Oregon Medical Imaging license (OBMI); maintain licensure and education hours as required by accrediting boards; CPR certificate issued by American Heart AssociationExperience: Minimum experience of 3-5 years in a rigorous vascular setting preferredPerformance Requirements:Qualifications:Excellent verbal and written communication skills towards staff, patients, and physiciansDemonstrate knowledge of machines/instruments to perform test to provide optimal images and data collectionAbility to problem solve multiple issues, assist staff in ordering correct examsWork effectively and efficiently in given time frameArrive to work on time, act and dress in a professional mannerKnowledge:Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy, as well as comprehensive vascular anatomyKnowledge of basic medical office processes, procedures, chart structureKnowledge of ultrasound physic and instrumentation and how to implement themAdditional Abilities and Skills:Ability to generate reports (basic Word format as structured by our PACS system) utilizing proper grammar and accepted medical reporting techniques.Ability to work well under pressure with minimal physician supervision.Ability to problem solve/improvise as dictated by situation.Ability to recognize an ill/critically ill patient and seek necessary treatment/triage care as needed.Equipment Operated: Philips Epiq ultrasound machine; Hokanson photoplethysmography machine; sphygmomanometer and blood pressure cuffs; computers; fax/copy machines, printers, telephonesWork Environment: Medical office, with two vascular ultrasound rooms; sterile procedure rooms on occasion. Exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions in clinic setting. Occasional high volume days, standard of 8-10 billable exams per day.Mental/Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with working in a vascular lab. Light lifting/assisting patients up to 30 lbs. max. Exams performed in both sitting and standing positions, as dictated by the exam type and sonographer preference.PM21PI158462411
