Science and Technology on a Mission!For more than 60 years, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) has applied science and technology to make the world a safer place. We have an opening for an Intelligence Analyst to join an interdisciplinary team conducting analysis of foreign country space, cyber and emerging technology capabilities and their implications for the national security interests of the United States. You will perform analysis that integrates complex information from all sources into finished assessments and make formal verbal and written presentations, interface with the Program---s sponsor and Intelligence Community (IC) stakeholders and contribute to project and organizational goals. This position is in the Space Science and Security program within Global Security Principal Directorate---s Z Program. This position will be filled at either the SES.2 or SES.3 level depending on your qualifications. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if you are selected at the higher level.Essential Duties - Under limited direction, conduct independent research on a broadly defined set of sensitive, politically significant national security topics, to include space, cyber and emerging technologies.- Identify and define problems, propose analysis methodologies, collect data, and write reports documenting results.- Use independent judgment to contribute to the development of a focused national security research program in assigned areas that address key science and technology and policy questions.- Research, prioritize, and validate information related to relevant national security topics; maintain an awareness of relevant current events and information in assigned areas.- Contribute to intelligence-related organizational objectives by providing input on technical issues for presenting in-depth analysis to sponsors and consumers, traveling as necessary.- Maintain required security in a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) environment for information that is under the analyst---s direct control.- Perform other duties as assigned.In Addition at the SES.3 level - Prepare and present assessments, papers, verbal briefings, and other products that communicate the findings from analytical research studies in accordance with the Office of Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) analytic tradecraft standards and requirements.- Represent the organization as the primary technical contact on multiple intelligence related tasks and projects, working effectively with conflicting priorities.- Contribute advanced subject matter knowledge on national security issues to inform-- the development of strategies and plans to meet programmatic objectives.Qualifications - Bachelor---s degree in political science, international relations, relevant scientific or engineering discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.- Knowledge and experience working within or with the IC analyzing national security issues to include one or more of the following topics: counterterrorism, foreign nuclear weapon programs, cyber, and space, or emerging technologies.- Ability to understand scientific and technological issues associated with these national security areas.- Experience conducting research and analytical assessments, writing detailed papers and other products that effectively convey analytical results with limited supervision.- Ability to work effectively under deadlines, coordinate work load on multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines with conflicting priorities. Experience working across organizational work units, with demonstrated effective team work and customer service skills.- Ability to travel as necessary to present analyses to sponsors and IC stakeholders as well as to meet with IC counterparts and sponsors.- Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment; author intelligence analyses; and present and explain technical information to external sponsors and customers.- Experience and ability to lead the application and development of principles, theories and concepts in an applicable discipline in a creative and innovative fashion.In Addition at the SES.3 level - Advanced subject matter knowledge in national security as related to space, cyber, and underlying technologies.- Ability to work independently to effectively manage advanced concurrent technical tasks with competing priorities and apply advanced analytic tradecraft concepts and standards in a multi-disciplinary team environment, where commitments and deadlines are important to project success.- Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience working within or with the intelligence community analyzing national security issues to include one or more of the following topics: foreign nuclear weapon programs, cyber, space, or emerging technologies..Desired Qualifications - Master---s degree in political science, international relations, relevant scientific or engineering discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience..- Demonstrated publication record in a relevant national security issue area. Pre-Employment Drug Test:-- External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.-- Security Clearance:-- This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at time of hire.-- Also, you must have the ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access.-- Please note that your current active Q or Top Secret clearance with DOE or another agency does not guarantee DOE SCI access approval; if you are denied access, you may be--subject to reinvestigation of--your existing Q or Top Secret clearance.------ Note:---- This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
