Surgical Technologist Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical
Technologist, OR Technologist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Varies,
rotating weekends. Call expected Hours per Shift: 40 hours
guaranteed Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Current
documentation of certification to practice surgical technology in
Oregon required Certifications: Healthcare Provider BLS required
Must-Have: - Cardiac experience is required - One year scrubbing
CVOR/Open Heart procedures experience or two years acute care
scrubbing experience required Description: Functions as a surgical
team member in the operating room working under the direction and
supervision of an RN. Primary area of work will be in cardiac open
heart with the ability to assist in all areas of the operating room
when needed. Assists in providing care to patients of all ages
including pediatrics and geriatrics to assure quality nursing care.
The Operating Room provides cardiac care to surgical and procedural
sedation patients. We provide service for the patient population of
pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and elderly patients. We work with
a variety of provider specialties in caring for people going home
that day or being admitted to the hospital. Candidates must have
successfully completed one of the following: - A training program
for surgical technologists in the armed forces or in the United
States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. - A surgical
technology education program accredited by the Commission on
Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program or Accrediting
Bureau of Health Education Schools. - Practiced surgical technology
for at least two years in a hospital, ambulatory surgical center,
or as an employee of a federal government agency or institution
between January 1, 2014, and January 1, 2017. Successful completion
of 16 hours of continuing education every two years relevant to the
medical-surgical practice of surgical technology is required.
Experience or training in computer applications is preferred.
