The Surgery Scheduler, is responsible for assisting surgeons,
physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses in
coordinating surgical and pre-operative services for the patients
--- Coordinates surgical procedures and related pre-operative
services; effectively communicates pre-op instructions to patients
and documents pertinent information in the patient record
--- Advocates for and functions as a liaison between the patient
and facilities to answer service-related questions and avoid delays
in patient care
--- Confirms cases with facilities and patients in advance of the
service date and documents confirmation status in the patient
--- Maintains a good working knowledge of pre-op requirements,
insurance regulations, and facilities requirements related to
surgical patient services
--- Adheres to confidentiality, state, federal and HIPAA laws and
guidelines with regard to patient records
--- Other duties as assigned
Requirements for Surgery Scheduler:
High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of Medical Terminology coursework, preferred; bilingual
English/Spanish, a plus
One year of surgery scheduling experience, strongly preferred
Must possess an ability to work in a team environment
Ability to exercise a high degree of diplomacy and tact while
multi-tasking, organizing and scheduling patients
Excellent customer service skills
Prompt and professional
Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance regulations,
confidentiality regulations and best practices
Knowledge of administrative processes, procedures, claims
processing, and healthcare documentation
Knowledge of patient care delivery systems and clinical
Additional Abilities & Skills:
Ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision
Strong organizational skills with an ability to prioritize and meet
Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines,
copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
Well-lighted medical office. Exposure to communicable diseases and
other conditions related to clinic setting. Work may be stressful
due to a busy office.
Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks
normally associated with office work involving sitting
approximately 90% of the day with occasional standing, walking,
reaching and lifting. Periodic stress occurs from handling many
calls and dealing with patient requests.

Starting Salary range: $35,360 - $40,680; commensurate with
